Having second thoughts

Hey there everyone,

After hearing some of the horror stories here, I'm having serious doubts about whether or not to continue pursuing the position (I'll leave it out for now).  I was never keen on the idea of being interrogated in a room for 3-4 hours, and with the failure rate being what it is, this just adds more fuel to the fire.  This would really be a great opportunity for me though (I'm sick of retail!).  I need to put my degree to use before it's too late.

Am I wrong to think this way? I could really use some advice.

Thanks in advance!

Reinar134,

I would advise you to educate yourself further about polygraphy so that you can make an informed decision whether to seek work with an employer that will judge your honesty and integrity based on polygraph chart readings. A good starting point would be to read The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, which may be downloaded here:

I'm having the same second thoughts. I had to take a poly last year for a volunteer position and assume I failed because I never heard back. It was a horrible experience. I swore I'd never take another poly after doing extensive research on this pseudoscience. Now, I have my Master's degree and really want to put it to use since I'm not getting any younger!  A local PD wants to hire me, pending passing a polygraph next week. I'm really reconsidering and wondering why in the world I'm willing to try this again.
