First I want to thank George and everyone who participates in the creation of this board. Knowing what to expect and then actually watching the polygraphist walk through each and every step, just as advertised, went along way to making this alot less stressful and I am sure had alot to do with my passing with flying colors... At the end of the test I thought the polygraphist was gonna kiss me for being so honest...... Preparation..... 1. Read this entire sight and The Lies Behind the Pol. 2. Made posters , with every RELEVANT question, at bottom of each poster was the word NO in large lettering. Hung these posters as well as posters saying POLYGRAPH IS A JOKE, HE'S LYING, POLYGRAPH CAN NOT TELL A LIE.. DON"T BE TRICKED, IT'S A GAME. all over my room, for a week I was constantly desensatizing myself to the relevant questions and reminded about the process of LIE DETECTING....... 3. I made two tubes, two finger clips with wires attached and used and ace bandage to simulate the pressure cup on the bicep. 4. Made a tape with ten simulated LIE DETECTOR TESTS, Each test had Irrelevant, relevant and control questions spaced at about 25-30 seconds. I also varied the sequence of the control/relevant questions to try to keep myself off guard. 5. Using my home made tubes, finger clips and pressure cuff, I ran through the tape just as if it were a real test. Practicing when and how to apply the counter measures to the control questions. I had decided to vary the intensity of my counter measures, First 10 questions I would heavily ( within reason, no over doing it) enhance my reaction to the control questions, second line of ten questions I would lessen my efforts and the third time through I would again decrease my reactions to the control questions. I practiced three methods of reaction enhancement. For the relevant questions I practiced a relaxing counting technique. For the control question reactions, I used mental countermeasures, very slight breathing manipulations ( remember these really stand out, don't create a Mount Everest reaction) and I practiced pushing my tongue against the back of my teeth . Kind of like biting your tongue, but much harder to detect in my opinion, and you can vary your intensity. 6, Practice.... Practice....Practice.......and more Practice Use a mirror and watch yourself, check for give aways like movements, also notice the tubes, wires and pressure cuff, these should become familiar to you, the less alien the process feels, the more comfortable you will be.......
