Accused of Using Countermeasures on FBI Polygraph

Yes, I was accused of using Countermeasures by the FBI main office, and I guess they were right.  I used marijuana more than the established 15 times or so, but that was like a zillion years ago when I was a kid.  So what!!!  I'm an adult now, and have had a very successful career.  Got the FBI gig, and the polygrapher even told me that my results were fine and that there was nothing he could see that would prevent me from getting the job.  2 weeks later, I never heard a thing.  Called the local office and they said I used countermeasures.  My employment was terminated, and I am never ever allowed to apply with the FBI again.  So yes, I guess I did try a little bit of the breathing, a little tongue biting on the control questions, but nothing that should have given it away.  oh well.  It wasn't mean to be I guess.  My recommendation is don't lie!!!  I regret even taking the stupid test.  But I don't regret my high school good times with my friends.  Don't lie on the polygraph.  Just don't take the test.

You've never taken a polygraph with the FBI, obviously.  The FBI wouldn't accuse you of employing countermeasures three weeks after you've taken the test - they would accuse you of CM's during the test.  And you wouldn't find out about it from calling the office.
Actually, thanks for the laugh, I needed one this morning.

Johnn,

Actually, the FBI HQ polygraph unit, which provides "quality control" for all FBI polygraph examinations, may opine that an examinee has employed countermeasures, even if the polygrapher who conducted the examination did not.

You know what?  You guys are rediculous that you don't believe me.  I received a job with the FBI on the contingency that I pass the polygraph.  I used the countermeasures the I read about on this site because of my past drug history.  I thought the test went smoothly even though I was lying about the drug questions and was biting my tongue and holding my breath on the control questions.  After the test, the polygrapher had some issues with the cheating in school control question, and the question concerning my driving record.  He said these questions went through the roof.  (obviously I overdid it on the holding breath and biting tongue)  Regardless, he said there was nothing there that would hold me back from getting the job, but it was up for the "main office" to decide.  I called the main office 2 weeks later, and my contact there said my pending employment was terminated, as the letter from the main office said that I EMPLOYED COUTNERMEASURES.  I'm not sure what part of that you guys don't understand?  Obviously you've never taken the FBI polygraph test!!!  I did, and I failed and was not given the oppertunity to retest.  I wrote an appeal letter to Washington.  They wrote a letter back saying SORRY, that the results from my polygraph  concluded that I was not suitable for FBI employment, and that I was not going to get a retest nor should I ever apply for an FBI job ever again.  So, I'm not sure what else I can add to get you to believe me, but I really don't care cause it's the honest truth.  My dreams got shattered pretty quick, and it bugs me every day that I even took the test when I know that I was lying about the drug questions.  I thought, however, after reading all the positive posts on this site about countermeasures, that maybe, just maybe I had a shot.  Again, my recommendation is just say no to the polygraph.  If you know you are lying, you're better off not taking the test then having a permanent file with the FBI.  It'll screw up your future, and it doesn't feel too good.  Luckily I have a good job that doesn't require lie detector tests, but I know I would have enjoyed the job that banned me for life from ever applying again.  So take your "SHADY POST" comment, and stick it up your polygraph.

meameamea,

Please understand that skepticism regarding your post arises from past experience with polygraphers forging posts on this message board.

All,

Based on past private correspondence with meameamea, I have no reason to suspect that his/her post is a forgery. Please exercise extreme caution before accusing anyone of being a fabricator. On numerous occasions, such as this one, such accusations  have turned out to be probably wrong. If you have doubts about a post, it is better to start by asking questions rather than making accusations.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the FBI never directly accuses anyone of employing countermeasures. I was under the impression that everyone gets the "did not fall within reasonable parameters letter"?

Anxiety,

Good point. I thought that to be the case as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that an FBI job offer is also contingent on passing a background after the polygraph is administered? Is it normally the case for an FBI polygraph examiner to tell an applicant the he sees no reason why he/she won't get the job before a background investigation is even underway? Seems a little presumptuous on the examiner's part considering 50% or more of those FBI applicants offered COE's don't make it to the finish line.

meameamea,

In your first post, you said the examiner said your results were fine--he could see nothing to keep you from getting the job, I believe was what you stated. However, in your second post--the one in which you told me to stick my shady post comment--you said the polygraph examiner had some issues with a couple of the control questions. Which is it?
