"Possible" polygraph test for Border Pat

While looking over the requirements for being hired as a Border Patrol agent, I noticed, along with all the standard background check procedures, the phrase "possible polygraph test."  Does anyone have any idea what this might mean?   

I'm guessing that everyone who goes through the application process has to take one.
