I see that the previous thread on this topic has not been updated for a long time, so I hope that we could develop a thread that could remain active. Maybe there could be a thread sticked at the top with two categories (require/do not require polygraph), for quick reference.

Do Not:
NYPD
Philly

Do:
Miami PD
San Diego PD
Kansas City PD
Phoenix PD
San Antonio PD
Austin PD

Revolver,

Where do you get this type of info?  I'm curious to know what Atlanta metro agencies, if any, do NOT use the ploygraph.

Usually, during routine research of a department's website, you can view the applicant processing procedure. Along with testing, background check, physical test, etc., if a department makes an applicant complete a polygraph, it will be listed under the hiring process.

Example:
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/recruiting/hiring.htm#polygraph

As for a comprehensive list for an entire metro area, I know of none. The only recommendation I would have is to google the department you are interested in, and research if they require a polygraph examination.

As for the Atlanta PD, their website doesn't specify if they use it or not, but other links state that they use the CVSA. You could contact a recruiter under the guise of curiousity to find out.

Revolver,

I have seen some listings for LE agencies in the past who do use the ploygraph for pre-employment screening, but doesn't list it with their hiring steps.

Thanks Anyway,

Definately do NOT:

L.A. Airport Police
L.A. Port Police
L.A. General Services Police

The job descriptions for each say, "With the exception of the polygraph, which is only applicable for LAPD candidates..."

Generally do NOT:

CSU University Police
UC University Police

Based on my review of CSU/UC campus police job descriptions.  The background phase does not list a polygraph/CVSA.  *** Exceptions include SDSU and UC San Francisco.***

Do NOT unless you're suspected of continual deception:

US Border Patrol
US Customs (CBP Officer)

Based on my review of job descriptions on CBP.gov.

Twoblock,

By law, state and local law enforcement agences are prohibited from relying on lie detector "testing" in hiring and employment matters not only in Oregon and Massachusetts, as you correctly note, but also in Michigan, Minnesota, and New Jersey. The fact that these five states have long gotten by without polygraph screening is proof positive that it is unnecessary.

George:

Your statement about "proof positive" floored me. For someone who relies so heavily on scientific studies to disprove polygraphy  your statement is a little free wth the comparison don't you think?
