Took a CVSA yesterday

I took a pre-employment CVSA yesterday for a local police dept. He told me that the CVSA is found to be 100% accurate and that if I lie to any of the questions that he asked me that it would definitely show.   Basically, he asked me before the test about past drug use, thefts, domestic violence, etc.  He told me to lie to 2 questions in particular, and did the series of questions twice.  After the first set, he told me that I did fine.  But, most people fail on the second series.  We proceeded to the second series right away.  After it was over he told me that we were done, asked if I had anything to add, and he walked me out.  No post test interrogation at all.  How does this sound?

BULLSHIT!

The CVSA is found to have a high degree of accuracy only based on research conducted by its manufacturer.  Scientifically it is dead in the water.

From what you have written I would surmise that the person administering the test was bluffing in hopes of some futher confession on your part.

He told me that when he was explaining how the test works.  He never said anything to me about it during or after the test.  He never said I was having trouble with any questions.  He was polite and laid back, never pushy or anything like the polygraph examiner I had.  Overall, I can say it was a pretty stress free and comfortable experience.  Though I know he was lying to me about the validity.  Grin

BTW, I searched a bit and didn't find anything about people actually failing CVSA's.  I have never heard of anyone failing one either.  Anybody want to comment on this?

Bullshit is not too strong a word. As it turns out, the CVSA operator's manual (I have a copy) explicitly encourages the operator to claim that CVSA is 100% accurate, warning that if they any lower figure is offered, the examinee who "fails" may claim to have fallen within the margin of error. Pure, unadulterated, Grade A bullshit.

JB933,

I have indeed heard from people who have "failed" CVSA tests.

Well, its been a few days since I took it.  How long does it typically take for them to interpret the results?  I am hoping that since he didn't "interrogate" me after the test, and I have been moving along with the hiring process that it seems optimistic.  Thoughts??

I took mine with DC Metro Transit PD in January and knew the results before I walked out the door... I passed, but what a BS, "I'll treat you like a naive fool" circus act it was.
