My advice:  DON'T LIE.  If you do not qualify, you do not qualify...move on to other endeavors.

I agree 100%.  If something you chose to do in your life was a bad choice, so be it.  Take responsibility for it and accept the consequences.

You said in another post that if you tell the truth you will be "done."  There's no harm in trying, so you might as well be honest and see if you get the job.  If you don't you can apply somewhere else, or find something else to do with your life.

No LE agency is expecting to hire perfect people.  You will not be DQ'd if you got a speeding ticket or stole a candy bar from the 7-11 when you were in high school.  If you have serious crimes in your past then law enforcement/government service is probably not the best career choice.

The main point this site addresses is not in aiding people to lie and go undetected.  Its purpose (regarding countermeasure use) is to aid honest applicants in an effort to avoid a false-positive.  Many of the regular posters here have been accused of deception due to a false-positive test result.

The main purpose of this site is to inform persons of the lack of scientific validity relating to polygraphy.  You will do as you choose, however few if any persons here are going to coach you in lying to obtain employment for which, by standards, you are unsuitable.  Many of the posters here have been denied employment and discarded from the applicant pool because of a false-positive.

Sorry I could not be of more help regarding the information you are seeking.

now im confused. why have this forum up for advice if you say to simply tell the truth? it is almost 100 percent guaranteed that if i do say i did pot, i will not get hte job.

there is simply no rationale for people on this board to panic over the truth, which leads me to think, due to the vast majority of hte posts i've found, that many are lying.

for instance, i have no problmes with quesitons over sexual behavior, child pornography, murder, rape, incest, hard drugs, espionage, vandalism, arrest records, etc. so naturally im not worried about those types of questions. why are others?

In my opinion, the information on this site is designed to educate people on the pseudo-scientific fraud that is the polygraph.  Information on countermeasures is provided so that truthful people can protect themselves from a false positive.

The information is not here to help people lie about things they chose to do in the past.  If there was a reasonable method of making the information available only to truthful people then that's what would be done.  As it stands, in order for truthful people to access the information it must be freely available to anyone.

I'm sure there have been liars and criminals who have come to this site to find out how to "beat" the polygraph.  That's too bad.

It's too bad because, to their shame and discredit, our government and many law enforcement agencies choose to rely on a "test" which can be defeated after a few minutes of studying a web site which provides instructions on how to alter your breathing pattern and/or do long division in your head.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

What happened to meameamea?  Couldn't find what he was looking for so grabbed his ball (posts) and went home?
