Prepare yourself to take the oral interview by learning what you can about the agency you are interviewing for. If they have a website, visit it and learn what you can about how the agency works, who is the chief, what divisions they have, and what specialized operations do they have. Visit the agency personally and ask to speak with the chief or another command staff member, this will give you valuable insight to how the department works. You can also ask to do a ride-along and take a tour of their facility. The more information you absorb, the better.

During your interview, be relaxed as possible. Maintain good eye contact with the panel and answer their questions briefly but thoroughly. Take a minute to think about your answers and if they want more elaboration they will ask. If you know the agency well and are prepared you will not need to give elaborate respones. Introduce yourself to the panel, shake their hands and remember their names. If they are wearing a name plate it will help you. Thank them personally and shake hands again when your interview concludes.

Good Luck
