I recently took a polygraph exam for the L.A.P.D, and this has been nothing but a nightmare for me. I thougth that I was on my way to becoming one of L.A 's finest, but that's not so. Before the test began, I was asked was I truthful about all infomation I provided in my background packet. I told the investigator about one job that I did't list, because it was 10 years ago, and I had no information on this place. I told the personnel department about this before I was scheduled for my background interview, or my poly exam, and I was told to proceed. After the exam was over, the investigator asked me to come clean about some things, but I told him that I had been 100% honest. After he seen that he could get no more information from me, I was sent home. I asked if I had passed the poly exam, and he said it was up to the personnel department. I waited for 3 months, and I finally get a letter stating that my poly results did'nt support the information I provided during my background interview. I called a background investigator, and he said that my results showed sigs of deception. After my test was over, the poly investigator never once told me this. Weeks later I spoke with a different investigator, and he said that I was disqualified because of an omission (the job I did'nt list). I wrote several people throughout the department, and my request was granted for a second exam. A complaint was also filed on the poly investigator, and as a result internal affairs contacted me. To make a long story short, my second exam was over in a matter of minutes. He left the room after asking me a set of questions, and minutes later told me that I was breathing different from my first test. He never complained about my breathing or my body movement during the short test, but I was being sent home. I asked if we could try the test again, but he said "there is nothing I can do for you". I asked if I passed or failed, and he said that it was all up to the personnel department. It took 2 months for the results to come, and I was told that I failed 2 exams. How did I fail the second exam, if the test was'nt completed? I was in the Parker Center for 35 minutes total. I wrote the mayor, a city councilman, Margaret Whelen, and Phyllis Lyness. Someone did recently contact me back, and I'm waiting for a response. I've been 100% honest since the day I applied. I had nothing to lie about, so how did I fail 2 poly exams? I met someone who told me that he/she lied about their past drug use, and this person passed with flying colors. This person also lied when the question came up about betraying anyone who trusted them. He/She answered no, when it should have been yes. This person finished the entier process in 7 months, and made it to the academy. This is a bunch of bull s__t! I have two misdemenor convictions which have both been expunged, so I thought this was the reason I was not being treated fairly. I went on a ride along, and the officer I was with also had numerous misdemenor convictions. Feel free to respond.
