Proposed Discussion/Debate

The American Polygraph Association lists on its website the following upcoming event: APA 37th Annual Seminar/Workshop, Sunday, July 28 – Friday, August 2, 2002, Albuquerque NM.  Since its inception, Antipolygraph.org has hosted discussion of a variety of polygraph related topics: validity (of various polygraph formats), underlying theory and the presence (or absence) of scientific control in polygraphy, susceptibility to countermeasures of various formats, deception involved in polygraphy, polygraph screening vs. specific issue testing, etc. etc.  Clearly a difference of opinion exists across the board on these topics as reflected in numerous message board threads.  Perhaps it would be interesting to see a representative of the APA's choosing debate Mr. Maschke (or one of his colleagues) on one or more of these topics.  I can't imagine a more favorable venue for the pro-polygraph participant or a better opportunity for this representative to clear up any misrepresentations the polygraph community believes have been made by the antipolygraph community.  Any takers??? I'd be happy to participate in any such debate, and could in all likelihood arrange to be in Albuquerque during the American Polygraph Association's annual seminar. I'd be happy to debate any person or persons the APA might nominate for such a debate.

If the APA has any genuine confidence in polygraphy, it ought to jump at this proposal and invite the press to attend.
