The Chinese English-language newspaper People's Daily reported in February 2001 about a new device called the "PG7 multi-variable lie detector" that has been approved for use in criminal investigations in China. It monitors blood pressure, pulse, respiration, pupil movement, and brain waves:

Pinyin: "Zhei ge ren ming ming ben zhi ren wei da jia neng du zhong wen. Ta cuo wu."

Pronounciation: "jay geh ren ming ming behn jer rehn way dah jiah neng doo joong wehn. Tah tswo woo."

Translation: "This person essentially thinks everyone can read chinese. He is mistaken."
