Title: Illinois Probationer Fined for Receiving Polygraph Countermeasure Instruction Post by George W. Maschke on Apr 2nd, 2013 at 8:36am
Don O'Brien of the Quincy, Illinois Herald-Whig reports:
Quote:
I note that while the title of the article suggests that Warner attempted to beat the polygraph, the article doesn't actually document that he answered any relevant question untruthfully during the course of any polygraph examination. This article raises a couple questions: would it have been a violation of probation had the countermeasure training taken place in Illinois instead of in Missouri? And if, as averred by Assistant State's Attorney Anita Rodriguez, obtaining information about polygraphy makes polygraph results "no good," then is it not foolhardy to rely on polygraph results at all, considering that such information is freely available to anyone who seeks it on websites such as this one? |

It seems that Jeffrey K. Warner's polygraph countermeasure training came to light in connection with Operation Lie Busters, probably through the seizure of Chad Dixon's business records. The U.S. Department of Justice, in its position on sentencing in the case of U.S. v. Chad Dixon, notes, among other things:
Quote:
It's also worth noting that the training Dixon provided to Warner seems to have been effective, despite the fact that Dixon, an electrician by trade, had no special background in polygraphy and provided his instruction based largely on what he learned from Doug Williams' material. |
