Title: Wrongly Failed, Lost Job
Post by PolyGirl on Jul 18th, 2008 at 3:38pm
I was recently given a job offer at the FBI, and had taken the drug test, filled out all forms, and negotiated salary, only to find out recently that I had failed my polygraph.  Obviously, I wouldn't be posting here if they'd gotten it right--I, and at least one other person I know, were both failed wrongly for the drugs question, despite passing the drug test.

Other than requesting an appeal and my records, is there anything else that you think I should do in the short term?  Would contacting my Senator's office and asking for assistance be of any use, or are they helpless/unwilling to do anything themselves?

On a side note, this website is amazingly accurate based on my experiences, and I appreciate what you do.

Thanks.

PolyGirl,

While Congress has an abysmal track record when it comes to providing meaningful oversight of executive branch agencies, I think it is a very good idea to contact both of your senators and your representative regarding your polygraph experience. While it's unlikely to result in your ultimately being hired by the FBI, if polygraph reform is to eventually become a reality, our legislators need to be hearing from their constituents who have been the victims of our government's misplaced reliance on this pseudoscience.

Hey girl,
I am with you.  I received my denial letter about a week in a half ago.  I'm in the process of writing my appeal letter.  I feel your frustration
