On 10 October 2006, PBS Frontline aired an episode titled "The Enemy Within" that covers, among other things, the Hamid Hayat case. Retired FBI Agent James Wedick is among those interviewed for the show, which may be viewed on-line here:

The show includes scenes from the (entirely uncorroborated) post-polygraph "confession" of Hamid Hayat, which, as mentioned in the L.A. Times article cited earlier, was conducted in a polygraph suite at the FBI regional office in Sacramento, California. Thus, at least one FBI polygraph suite is equipped with audio- and video-recording equipment. All should be. And all interrogations (whether or not the polygraph is used) should be recorded in their entirety.

There can be no good faith explanation for the FBI's decision not to record the interrogation of Hamid Hayat from beginning to end. It had the means to do so, but instead, the FBI selectively began recording only when Hamid began making his "confession." The FBI evidently did not want any judge or jury to see and hear an objective record of the prior interrogation that led to this "confession."
