Title: Rejection Letter - confused/ help!!!! Post by carmo on Apr 1st, 2004 at 4:55am
I received a rejection letter from a fed. agency after taking their polygraph. The polygrapher told me that everything looked fine and that I passed. How do I know why I was disqualified then? Was it because of the polygraph?

carmo,
Do you have a point of contact at the agency with which you applied? It might be best to call and ask the reason for your disqualification. Assuming your application was not with the CIA or NSA (which have exemptions), you can obtain files related to your application by filing a Privacy Act request. (See Chapter 5 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector.) |

I called and all I got was, "Request information under FOIA" - I think it is a lost cause !

carmo,
Don't give up so easily, file a FOIA as they directed and request any/all pertinent information regarding your rejection letter. Also, be sure to request all documented notes, comments, opinions, polygraph charts, tapes, videos, etc., etc. Additionally, you should protest in writing any potential inconclusive or "DI" [deception indicated] polygraph result. This process will take time, but what do you have to lose? A written letter of protest will document your disagreement with their findings for rejecting your application. The written letter of protest will also be added to your HQ file. Good luck. triple x |
