It's not unusual for polygraph results to be reviewed by a second polygrapher. It seems likely that another polygraph chartgazer divined signs of deception and/or countermeasures.

I recently took a poly for a local PD.  Everything seemed to go well, and the examiner was polite, courteous and professional.  During the second "chart" i nearly fell asleep from having to sit still and be relaxed and answer the questions over and over.  After the third "chart" the examiner asked me if I moved, and I told him I wasn't sure, but he showed me the computer screen and pointed out the sensor pad showing that there was movement detected.  I apologized and told him I would remain as still as possible for the make-up fourth chart (he had already told me after the second one that my results were showing I would only need three charts, the minimum.)  He did comment a couple times that my breathing was very relaxed and he kept commenting that it appeared I had been trained in "survival breathing" in the military.

Finally, after the fourth chart he unhooked me, asked me if any specific question was giving me any trouble and I simply stated No, but that some of the questions were fairly broad in scope.  He agreed and said that was for a purpose, and then proceeded to tell me that he didn't see any reason that I shouldn't continue on in the application process.  He even showed me the computer screen and clicked through some of the questions on the charts and showed me how consistent and "good" (my word) I did.  He emphasized again that once he wrote up his report he would send it to recruiting recommending that I continue on in the process because he saw nothing that concerned him.  Based on what I have read on this site, I was NOT subjected to a post-test interview, and NO issue or specific question of concern was brought up (he did say I looked like I was having some troubled with the "is there anything you are ashamed of question"--then he said it was no big deal).

Fast-forward a week later:  I finally get a hold of one of the recruiters and they tell me the examiner showed my chart to another examiner and at that point some "concerns" about the polygraph arose ("concerns" was his exact wording).  He said based on that I would not be advanced in the application process.  He refused to elaborate on what the concerns were, and he even admitted that the examiner had initially agreed that he did tell me I did fine on the exam (I had left a message that day after to update my contact info and told the recruiter the examiner said I passed/did fine).  

So, my question is this: How could I walk out of the exam being told I was "good to go", and then be later told "there were concerns" that was essentially ending my application.  

There are other specifics I can provide, but essentially they are all related to the FACT that the examiner repeatedly commented on how complete my application was regarding past behavior, how well I was doing throughout the exam, and that I would be recommended to continue in the process.

Does a series of "charts" routinely get reviewed by other polygraphers before a determination is made?  If I wasn't subjected to a post-test interview and was told I was truthful to all "relevant" questions, how could "concerns" arise later?
