In response to an above commenter that equated being opposed to homosexuality as being close-minded;  That was an ignorant statement.  Those who have thoroughly examined the issue and have come away opposed to it are in no way close-minded.  Disagreement with homosexuality does not equate close-mindedness, hate, nor bigotry.

The CIA DOES NOT discriminate against LGBTQ individuals. As with any job interview you go into, there is always going to be a remote possibility that you will encounter a close-minded individual. But there is no question about sexuality on CIA's polygraph. It was removed from their test back in the early 1990's. If its concerning to you, I recommend bringing it up with your Examiner in their pre-test interview. That way you can alleviate your concern, get it out of the way, and then focus on the real issue at hand: National Security. The Agency believes in diversity, which includes members of the LGBTQ community, as suggested by their ANGLE Network. Best of luck to you in the rest of your process.

I was explicitly told by an Agency affiliate the Agency still fires people for being homosexuals.  Others dispute this, which makes me think it is probably a practice rather than a policy.

You take your chances either way (being open or lying).  This comes with the territory since equal opportunity law does not apply to security decisions.

Homosexuality does not disqualify applicants from CIA employment. At least not officially. It's entirely possible that there is bias built into the hiring process. For example, if your polygraph examiner harbors a bias against homosexuals, this could make your "failing" more likely.

In any event, the CIA does have a so-called "affinity group" for gay and lesbian employees called the Agency Network for Gay and Lesbian Employees (ANGLE):

Hey all,
I'm a lesbian woman and have made it past part 1 of the CIA process and am having an interview scheduled.  I haven't had to disclose any information regarding my significant other, sexual identity, etc.  But am wondering if/when I'm asked about my personal relationships whether I should disclose everything.  Would admitting that I'm a lesbian disqualify me for clearances? The position?

Thanks for any help.
