I had a misdemeanor charge in 10/2007 which was settled in first hearing. Im applying for a federal job, as a IT contractor. Im required to have a Pub Trust Clearance. Would this charge be a deterrent factor in getting a clearance?

Also I should point out, I may have posted this in the wrong forum... I need this clearance to work with a government contractor on some FAA network security stuff... I wouldn't be working for an Intelligence Agency... does that change anything?

Under the circumstances you've described, I would be surprised if any federal agency would grant you a security clearance at this time.
Seriously? Its just two misdemeanors... I thought they let stuff like that past a lot as long as you're honest about it, and it was my impression that this was a really low level clearance...
And I was completely honest when filling out the forms.

I'm applying for a position that requires me to submit form 85P, application for position of public trust.
I listed two charges that I was convicted of, they are misdemeanors... one was paraphernalia and one was petit larceny and they happened about 2 years ago. I also had a felony possession charge that was dismissed recently.
In addition to that, I have a few debts I listed on the form that I haven't taken care of yet.
I was as honest as possible when filling out the paperwork... is any of this stuff going to interfere with me passing/getting this clearance?
