My wife has been going through the process of becoming a peace officer. She scored a 92 on her written and passed the physical. This made her the top candidate. After a thorough background check, she then went through the oral boards. She was told that she scored higher on her oral boards than any other in the last 2 years. She was then sent to a larger city to take an intelligence test, lie detector and psych test. She then took some type of aptitude test where she scored a 45, which was higher than any of the other 40+ recruits in attendance. She passed the lie detector, but before testing, the administrator looked over her information and mentioned that with her background she should spend only two years in the PD, then try to jump aboard with the US Marshalls or FBI. She felt like she was being baited so she simply thanked him for his kind opinion. Two hours later, she failed the psych test. She is appealing the psych test as she feels that she is more than qualified for the position. On a side note, someone in our community said that one of the department's officers said that he heard that the dept. felt she was overqualified and would try to move up too quickly and therefore the dept. didn't want to waste time on recruiting her. Could this statement be true? Should we invest our money in having a second psych test done? Any help would be appreciated...great site by the way...tons of information. By the way, my wife has not applied at any other PD's. She would like to remain in our hometown...another reason why she has no intentions of jumping ship.
