Well I have a long long history with Polygraph Exams...when I was a young teenager I made the worst mistake of my life, I committed a sex crime. As a part of the Pre Sentence Investigation, I was "ordered" to take a polygraph. Well I was about 13 at the time, and had no attorney as of yet...and I was stupid. I took the polygraph, and blatantly lied, and of course blatantly failed. It was the experience afterwards that struck me...the polygraph dude (lol) proceeded to literally "suggest" ideas on to what led me to commit my offense. He was suggesting some pretty outrageous things. I was scared, and I wanted to get out of there and go home...so I just nodded and nodded, until he let me go finally. This led to me being committed to a juvenile rehabilitation institution for a year. During my stay, I was required to undergo another polygraph test. It was basically to show that I had admitted all of my offenses. This one I passed. After my release I spent 5 years in treatment. I took a total of 5 more polygraphs - ALL OF WHICH I ANSWERED ALL RELEVANT QUESTIONS TRUTHFULLY. I failed 2 and had inconclusive results on the other 3 (which in a parole officers mind, is a fail). I successfully completed treatment at the age of 18. I am now 25 and I am battling for custody of my two children. The court knew of my prior sex offense history as a juvenile and asked for a psychosexual evaluation. As a part of that I was asked to take ANOTHER polygraph. Frankly, I was scared to death. I had plenty of time to mentally prepare myself, and the good thing was, I knew I had nothing to lie about; they already knew everything. But based on my past experience, I was certain I would fail...I just have no faith in a polygraph. I stumbled upon this site, and read the ebook. It was relieving to know that I wasn't the only one to consistantly get bad results when telling the truth on a polygraph. 

On the actual test: I employed countermeasures - I felt I had to so I could protect myself - However I answered all questions truthfully

I passed. 

Still battling for custody.

My .02 is this - Don't lie on a polygraph, I've done it and it doesn't work. BUT, telling the truth ALSO doesn't work...Im a very good example of that. Avoid it if you can...and if you must...protect yourself. And for God's sake, don't use these countermeasures to "Beat" a polygraph, use them if you HAVE to take a polygraph, and you are PREPARED to tell the truth.
