-LVguy I am not Sackett, but have 30 years in LE. The honest and straightforward answer, is forget about being a cop. While you may have turned your drugging ways around, the fact is, that most police departments do have choices as to who they want to hire, and why would they want to hire you when there are other equally qualified applicants who have not used drugs in the manner you have? I wouldn't hire you.

I read that you work with the LVMPD. I grew up in Vegas and I want nothing more than to be a police officer in the LVMPD. I am a good, honest person and I have no intention of lying to the department about anything in my past. In fact, I have already taken the written test (which I passed) and PHQ which I answered honestly and failed. I was hoping it was only due to the recency of marijuana usage (the last time I smoked it was just under two years from the time of the test). The rationalization of your behavior is most likely to disqualify you. It shows that you don't have a problem with unethical behavior that you know is wrong - you will simply justify it in your mind and continue. That shows a lack of maturity and responsibility.
