No one can pretend to read the mind of a security clearance adjudicator, but assuming your admitted marijuana use was before any such time as you may have held a security clearance, or a position of public trust (such as police officer), then I think your marijuana use, and your temporary oversight in neglecting to mention it on the SF 86, are unlikely to preclude you from obtaining a security clearance.

I took my Poly last month and passed on the first attempt.   My only concern now is the fact that 10 months ago I inadvertently left out my marijuana use on my sf86, but I submitted my usage 3 days later to my security officer. I was told my sf86 would be updated, but I didn’t bother to ask my investigator or polygraph examiner if this was done.  During my interview I gave my investigator a copy of the email I sent to my security officer showing my marijuana use and he took it with no questions or concerns.  I used the drug 10 times and the last time was 4 years ago.

I told my polygraph examiner about my sf86 mistake and he told me it happens all the time and rephrased the question on the poly.

My question is, now that the process is done; will this mistake on my SF86 haunt me in adjudication?

Other then smoking 10 times in college, I have a clean record

Thank You.
