Hello all... I've been reading quite a few posts here and could never make up my mind about how to react when I'd get to my actual poly, a pre-employment screening for a non-US agency. Excuse me for being vague, but I'm quite scared about the impact of posting here... I've had some... unpleasant experiences with bulletin boards in the past.
My first poly was deemed inconclusive... the polygrapher truly was arrogant. Told me I wasn't listening and accused me of using CM's when I was just trying to breathe the way he wanted to... Oh, and he never told me we were recorded...
My second one was amusing though. The guy started by saying I had almost passed the previous time... then to my great surprise he went through everything, most of which is also told here. He explained that the Stim Test was to show how much you'd react to the directed-lie question, and showed me all the traces on the screen. He really covered most of the stuff and sounded really honest, although he boasted about some of his stats...
I had a huge problem however cause I tend to have trouble swallowing, and so my breathing pattern often stops while I'm making efforts to swallow. He suggested I should try to swallow on the irrelevant questions so as to make life easier on everyone, but just trying to do that made me nervous as hell. He also said that he didn't measure the actual breathing, and only used it to determine if someone was using CM's.
In the end however, I passed, but here's the strangest thing. I feel that I passed because I actually did tell him everything I had on my mind and that I really felt at peace when answering questions...
Does that mean I believe it actually worked? I don't know... but the second one definitely wasn't that bad. I know that the science behind it is a best shaky, but then... when it's something you HAVE to take...I guess your best bet is to take it and do your best.
