Just to let people know, it seems that starting the BI before the poly isn't that strange after all. I don't have mine for another couple weeks but they've already interviewed a number of my friends, etc. But again, maybe it's because it's a summer internship.

I'm bummed about that estimate, though I suppose I should have known. I just don't understand how they can wait to polygraph me until April -ish when I'll need a clearance by no later than early June (more like May). Maybe the process is easier for college students because of our relatively short histories?
I wonder if giving interim TS/SCI is normal for the start of internships because of the time crunch?
Or, will they have started my BI already before I'm scheduled for a polygraph, etc? (if so, hopefully people they contact will tell me and I can breathe a little easier)I've heard varying reports on this...
So would you recommend against calling the recruiter to confirm that things are going forward? It would be nice to know they at least got my stupid forms, since I did spend most of my winter break filling them out.

It can take up two three months. You will get a phone call from the programs officer who will guide you thru the security process. I don't think that the recruiter can answer much during the security phase. When I sent my completed SF86, it took almost three months before I heard back from them. They'll schedule your polygraph and medical examination over the phone. It'll be at least another two months in your case.

Hi, I know I'm just another nervous and impatient applicant to an intel agency, but I was wondering if you all could answer a simple question.
What is the normal wait time btw sending out the completed sf86 and getting the call to schedule the poly? I have seen timetables about most things but not this exactly. It's been about 3 weeks now, which I know isn't too long. Is the woman who did the initial phone interview my POC who I could call back and ask?? Also, this is for a summer internship - so I think it should have priority and not take more than 6 months total.
