The key to beating a polygraph "test" is 1) to make no damaging admissions DENY DENY DENY! and 2) to subtly augment one's physiological responses to the "control" questions.

I would highly recommend you try to be honest in this case. Deception is really no way to start a career in LE.
I am curious about your post because you seem uncertain about whether or not you actually ingested LSD. Either way, I would hope that they would be understanding about this matter. 12 years is a long time, especially for someone who isn't 100% sure about the drug actually being LSD.
good luck.

Thanks, I have been doing a bunch of research on this, it seems that LSD usage is not something where intent is really the issue. It has more to do with the fear that you may have a flashback or something while on duty. I haven't asked any agencies myself, just done research online.

I assume this is why you posted the other thread about Doug Williams' book (if I am incorrect, I apologize). Check with the departments with which you want to apply to find out what their past drug experimentation guidelines are currently. You may also want to check POST in your state to see if they provide such guidelines.
If you did not knowingly ingest the LSD let them know. There was an unlawful act committed, but it was on the part of the person slipped it to you.

I'm thinking about applying at several of my local police departments. I work for another non-armed law enforcement type agency currently. My concern is that when I was 17 I was slipped what I believe was LSD while at a party. This was 12 years ago, but most agencies seem to have an absolute no LSD policy. Do I have any hope of being hired?
