This sort of question has been asked many times (including by myself as weel). But the response that keeps on coming up is that the past doesnt really matter that much unless you were once "addicted" to a substance. Dont worry too much about it, as long as you didnt get into really hard drugs or used to be a drug dealer what not you should be fine. I even heard somewhere that they just want to know so that no one can use that "hidden" information against to you to extract information from you once you get in the Agency. 5-7 years is along time. CIA says on their website that theres a 12 moth prior durg use period before applying or something to that form but that doesnt mean that you can use drugs until a year before you apply. I think that its just letting you know that they are even willing ot accept QUALIFIED applicants that have made a mistake of abusing a minor substance as recent as a year. If its a window between 5 to 7 years and if you dont go back down the same path as before it would prove that you will never go back. Also i would probably advise to let some of your "druggy" friends or friends that are aware of your drug use that you stopped. So when they do their backround investigation and what not your friends can back you up. If you are into church you should consult your pastor and tell him about what you ve been doing and ask him how you can be right with god or something to that affect. Do something in your life from this point on out that says and shows that you are a different person.

So, I have been clean for awhile, and will remain clean. I plan to apply in about 7ish years. But I need to know, will my prior drug use make me an immediate disqualification? I don't plan to lie, nor will I come out and list those 3 drugs I have done, but is it enough for me to forget about getting a job with the CIA?
Stay clean from here on out and your past drug use/sales shouldn't be much of an issue.

I have always wanted to be part of the CIA, ever since I was little. I was always a good kid, never got in trouble with the law, ever, or done anything stupid. Throughout high school and before, I always had superb grades. I am doing well in college, and have not gotten a ticket or have been arrested. My background is pretty clean. Except for one thing. 3 Years ago, I got into drugs. I did marijuana more than 15 times during this time, but never ever sold it. I also had prescribed hydrocodone and oxycodone ,of which both I did at this time recreationally. The worse, however ,is that a total of 5 times, I sold hydrocodone. All 5 sales were under 20 dollars, but regardless I still did it. I also download music/games etc, but I never think of that as stealing
