hi there. most of the people i have spoken to pretty much say the same thing...a previous DQ isn't necessarily going to hurt me as long as i remain honest about the circumstances. in my case, there's not much to say other than i failed a polygraph where i was not feeling well and i am now awaiting a retest. hopefully, that will carry me over any potential humps.
adonis, best of luck to you in your efforts!

I am in the same boat you are. I just failed a poly with a major metropolitan police department and now I am wondering to what extent this will affect my applications with other departments.
Ronin, I am more worried about the department I tested with revealing the results to other local departments. The best case scenario would be you getting to reveal it to them first and getting to explain your side of the story.
If anyone has any insight into these or similar situations, I also would be grateful to hear it.
Also, as a side note, Ronin, I have heard nothing but bad things about the LAPD hiring process and I personally would not consider testing with them. There are plenty of other good departments in California that will not put you through the hassle.

Hi everyone. I know others have had experience with this, so I am hopeful some of you will have insight into my situation.
I recently failed an LAPD poly and have requested a re-test since I was not feeling well during my initial session. I am still waiting to find out if I will be granted a re-test.
In the meantime, I am moving forward in the selection process with several other departments. My question is... how will it reflect on me when I reveal that I have already taken and failed a poly with another agency? I am assuming that it will not look favorable and wonder what pieces of advice anyone may have.
