Not to flood the board (I don't IM...sorry) with our personals, but will you face a poly in the upcoming months? Regardless, good luck. As for me, I've only considered applying.

I've seen this question on the board before, but I would like to clear it up once and for all...Is MPDC using the poly or VSA in its application process? Also, in a general sense, are most larger city police departments phasing out the poly in its hiring process? Any response is appreciated.

I can't comment about MPDC's polygraph policy, however I have heard from several people who seem to be in the know, that they do not use it in screening employees. As far as other large departments, from what I've gathered about 70 percent of departments in the U.S. subject their prospective employees to this kind of garbage. I've also spoken with fellow law enforcement officers who have mentioned of the polygraph's problems it has created. I think many departments feel that the polygraph will deter many undesirables from applying to their departments. I think this may have been true about a decade ago, but this day in age there is so much doubt about the polygraph's validity, not to mention people who simply don't believe in its foolishness, I don't see a need for it.
