Akron- An inmate who claims an Akron police sergeant wooed her with money, letters and a marriage proposal - then dashed her hopes when she learned he was married and would not be able to secure her release from prison - filed a lawsuit yesterday. Linda Karlen's request for damages includes $2.5 million from Sgt. Sean Matheny, calculated from 25 years of expected marriage. She also names the Police Department and city in her lawsuit.
Quote:
He denies her allegations, said his lawyer, Thomas Adgate. Matheny, 47, sent letters, cards, clothing, food and cash to Karlen at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.

Matheny, a 22-year veteran, is a polygraph operator. But he had worked on the Pratt case so he began working with Karlen.
