Batman, are you really that convinced your equipment is almost 100% accurate? I have been in Law Enforcement for 8 years now (still considered a youngster in my dept.), and have yet to meet a co-worker who went to the poly and wasnt told they were lying. Including myself, 8 years ago. I was hired, they were hired and 20-30 every year will continue to be hired. Everyone of us was told we lied, so my question is who is ever told "okay you passed, see you later, and congrats!" Its a game, simple as that, and if you change your story you lose the game. Its a good interrogation tool at best, but a better tool for the dept. to get who "they want" and to eliminate the folks they dont think fit the mold of Trooper/Officer/Agent or whatever, and I know first hand that if you are a retired formers kid, or a politicians kid you will never fail the poly, and you are on the fast track to Detective/ Vice / Aviation/ or whatever you wish. I say scrap the poly, get that investigator out on the road were they can actually do some work, and give the backround a real investigtion, hands on. To anyone concerned about a poly here is how it will go: You are lying! Something is bothering you? Lets get this out in the open now so I can help you. I cant help you unless you tell me what is bothering you. Dont buy that line of crap! Yes tell the truth, and you should be fine, but keep in mind if the dept. needs women, minorities, or a couple more politicians kids, or lazy retired cops kids on the job,you may just fail, it is an elimination tool. Keep at it if your goal is to be in Law Enforcement and you may get hired someday. I had to go through the process three times with my dept., and my brother four. Hang in there.
