That sounds very similar to the LAPD poly...

Is it safe to assume that if you aren't given a post-test interview that you've passed?

x5bmwb5,

Your test sounds very similar to the one I had about four months ago for a LE application.  When my test was over the examiner asked if anything was bothering me about the test.  I said no - he shook my hand and wished me luck. I never heard if I passed or failed but was allowed to continued through the personnel process and was hired.

Those in my academy class, that applied the same time/agency I did, that did not pass had what George called a post test interrogation.  In each case the applicant suddenly remembered something, and admitted it, sealing their fate.  They were immediately disqualified from the application process.  I agree with George. You probably have nothing to worry about.

Good Luck!

x5bmwb5,

It appears that your polygraph screening took the form of either a peak of tension test, a variation of the "General Question Test," or some hybrid of the two. What you've described is similar to the procedure described by "alwazracin" in the message thread, Need HELP with identifying control!!!!.

In a peak of tension test, the polygrapher would look for a consistent significant reaction to one or possibly more of the relevant questions.

In a "General Question Test," the questions, "Do you intend to tell the truth?" at the beginning and "Have you completely told the truth today?" serve as a form of "hidden control" question. Although both questions seem to be relevant, it is expected that they might generate a response (even from truthful subjects) which can then be compared to any responses to the relevant questions.

The absence of any post-test interrogation in your case leads me to suspect that you probably passed.

I took my poly today for a local agency but not sure if I passed or not. I started out by filling out the questionaire and then was called in to review my answers. After going over the questionaire, she hooked up the machine to me and asked about 10 questions that went like this:
Is your name XXX?
Do you intent to tell the truth?
Are you concealing anything?
Have you lied about your drug history?
Have you lied about your sexual crime history?
Have you lied about your employment history?
Have you lied about your personal information?
Have you every commited a serious crime?
Have you ever stolen from an employer?
Have you completely told the truth today?

After the questions, she stopped the machines and asked how I felt? I told her I thought I did well and she said "Then lets do it again". We went through the questions again except in a slightly different order. After that, I asked how I did to which she responded, "How did you do?". I told her I thought I did very well. She then said I was finished and wished me luck in the process. Any input as to how I did? Thanks guys.
