Gerard Wong of The Straits Times<\/em> reports<\/a> that Singaporean goalkeeper Shamsuri Ahmad has agreed to submit to a mandatory lie detector “test.” Excerpt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CLEMENTI Khalsa goalkeeper Shamsuri Ahmad saved himself from a sacking by the S-League last night when he agreed at the last minute to go for a polygraph (lie-detector) test.<\/p>

The 32-year-old custodian was the first S-League player to appear before the Football Association of Singapore’s disciplinary committee for refusing to take the test a few weeks back.<\/p>

But Shamsuri changed his mind after Clementi chairman Jagjit Singh persuaded him at the hearing to take the test.<\/p>

…Jagjit explained that Shamsuri, who last played in Clementi’s 0-5 thrashing by Home United on May 12, had refused to take the test out of sheer ignorance.<\/p>

‘He is a simple lad who is not very well-educated,’ he said. ‘He was afraid to go for the test because he gets nervous very easily.<\/p>

‘Although he claims his innocence, he had this terrible fear that his anxiety would make the polygraph register a wrong result.’<\/p>
