The Kentucky State Police are conducting the investigation. All members of the Simpsonville P.D. have agreed to be polygraphed.<\/p>\n<p>Such polygraph dragnets have a poor record of success. AntiPolygraph.org has found no recent examples where such dragnents have solved a mystery. Examples of past polygraph dragnets with no reported success include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A 2001 <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/cgi-bin\/forums\/YaBB.pl?board=Policy;action=display;num=1057221198\">inquest<\/a> at the Irondale, Alabama city hall to determine who in city hall may have leaked confidential police information;<\/li>\n<li>The 2006 <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/blog\/2006\/11\/29\/polygraph-dragnet-fails-to-solve-jacksonville-fire-department-noose-mystery\/\">polygraph dragnet<\/a> of Jacksonville, Florida firefighters over nooses placed on the gear of two black firefighters;<\/li>\n<li>A 2006 <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/blog\/2006\/05\/15\/greensboro-polygraph-dragnet-roundup\/\">polygraph dragnet<\/a> at the Greensboro, North Carolina city council in an attempt to determine who leaked a confidential report on racism in the Greensboro Police Department;<\/li>\n<li>The 2009 <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/blog\/2009\/02\/02\/massachusetts-police-face-polygraph-dragnet\/\">mass polygraph &#8220;testing&#8221;<\/a> of members of the Dracut, Massachusetts Police Department regarding the disappearance of marijuana stored as evidence;<\/li>\n<li>A 2009 <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/blog\/2009\/07\/21\/polygraph-dragnet-planned-in-houston-fire-department-harassment-investigation\/\">polygraph dragnet<\/a> at a Houston, Texas fire station regarding alleged racial and sexual harrassment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Polygraph &#8220;testing&#8221; is thoroughly discredited <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/articles\/article-018.shtml\">pseudoscience<\/a>. Polygraph &#8220;tests&#8221; are easily defeated using <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf\">simple countermeasures<\/a> (see chapter 4) that polygraph operators <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/blog\/2013\/04\/07\/polygraph-countermeasures-what-polygraph-operators-say-behind-closed-doors\/\">cannot detect<\/a>, and truthful persons are frequently <a href=\"https:\/\/antipolygraph.org\/statements.shtml\">falsely accused<\/a> of deception by polygraph operators.
